The Abre-te Sésamo Desk is a wooden piece defined by the multiplicity of its openings and the resulting expansion of its planes of use. When activated, the desk reveals drawers and internal compartments that were previously concealed, extending the work surface and offering organized spaces for storing everyday objects, documents, and tools.
In its closed configuration, the piece presents a restrained and discreet volume; once opened, it transforms, exposing its internal structure and multiplying its possibilities of use. The desk brings together support surface, storage, and organization within a single object, allowing the user to control what is revealed and what remains hidden.
The creation of Abre-te Sésamo is rooted in the symbolic meaning of the expression that gives the piece its name, associated with the idea of access to a hidden treasure. Much like the narrative in which a magical phrase opens a cave and reveals what was concealed, the design proposes a piece of furniture that shelters and protects its contents, revealing them only when summoned by the user. The act of opening thus becomes a central element of the experience, establishing a direct relationship between movement, surprise, and discovery.
