Cristina Celestino

1980

Cristina Celestino was born in Pordenone and studied architecture at the IUAV School of Architecture in Venice. After graduating in 2005 she worked with various design studios, focusing on interior architecture and design. In 2013 she established her studio in Milan. The activities of Cristina Celestino and her studio range from residential, hospitality, and commercial projects, to creative Direction and product design.

Her work is characterized by an innate freedom of observation that is both erudite and curious. She cultivates a great capacity for scientific and aesthetic investigation, displaying an obsession with material and geometry. This allows her to move across history and traditions, altering the scale of objects and creating new conceptual and decorative canons. An approach that intertwines a, transdisciplinary perspective with analytical rigor, leading to unexpected spaces, objects, and experiences where nature speaks to us with unanimity.

Collaborations and clients include Acqua di Parma, Botteganove, Budri, CC-Tapis, Cedit, Ethimo, Diptyque, Experimental Group, Fendi, Fornace Brioni, Etel, Kaldewei, Maison Matisse, Gervasoni, Moooi, Gebruder Thonet Vienna, Nilufar, Palazzo Avino, Serapian, Sergio Rossi, Wonderglass.

Cristina Celestino's work has been featured in prominent publications, including being mentioned for multiple years in AD 100 Best Designers selection, Domus, Elle Decor, Wallpaper, Ideat, and Vogue. She has won several Elle Decor International Design Awards in the wallcovering category; in 2016 she was conferred the special jury prize at Salone del Mobile and in 2022 by Maison & Objet the ‘ Best Designer of the Year’ award.

The classification of urban features, transformed into domestic imagery, happens through the specific use of materials and techniques belonging to the Brazilian tradition, such as curved walnut.

CRISTINA CELESTINO

The partnership between ETEL and Italian CRISTINA CELESTINO, voted Designer of the Year by Maison & Objet, is the result of bringing together cultural and historical baggage and personal repertoire in creating something authentic and new. Starting from this deep research into the paths that have shaped our Brazilian modernity and our lush landscapes, Cristina Celestino presents her Panorama collection.

A constant dialogue with nature immediately triggers relationships of full and empty, light and heavy, pale and dark in an ongoing play of surfaces, materials and colors.
