Pracinhas Bench

The bench is one of the oldest forms of seating furniture. I like the gestures and informality of sitting on benches. “Pracinhas” has a lower height providing the body with a feeling of rest. The body yields and lands. Silhouette with gentle slopes. Its structure is made up of three distinct parts: Seat, Joint and Base. The seat, sized for use by a single user, has side handles enabling the piece to be moved. A delicate tied pillow rests on the saddle secured by its natural leather cord. The elliptically turned joint piece fits into the intersection allowing for easy disassembly. The base is in the shape of a board, at the ends with a hollow and a crosspiece joining the feet. The sight of the Monumento dos Pracinhas on the way to Santos Dumont Airport, which I do weekly, moves me: I desire to sit there...
