A special edition of Oscar Niemeyer’s celebrated Alta Armchair was created specifically for the Memorial da América Latina in the 1980s. Since 2013, the piece has been an original reedition licensed by the Oscar Niemeyer Foundation, the holder of the copyrights, and produced and exclusively commercialized under the ETEL registered trademark. It bears dual certification of origin and authenticity, issued by both the Oscar Niemeyer Foundation and ETEL.

This version of the Alta Armchair features a backrest distinct from the traditional model and was originally placed in front of a work by Brazilian artist Victor Arruda in the foyer of the Simón Bolívar Auditorium. In 2013, a fire at the auditorium destroyed part of the public collection and the space itself, including the four Alta Armchairs. ETEL, an official partner of the Oscar Niemeyer Foundation, undertook the restoration of the armchairs whose wooden structures had been entirely lost. The restoration process followed the original model with absolute fidelity.
