Ines Schertel

Brazil

Born in Porto Alegre, the architect Inês Schertel spent most of her life in São Paulo. In 2013, however, she decided to change her lifestyle radically and started to take care of a flock of sheep on a farm in São Francisco de Paula, in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul. From then on, she started to produce pieces in rustic felt using an age-old technique that mixes wool, olive soap and water, which allowed her to follow the entire production process and understand the environmental impact of her creations.

“All of my work is hand made with 100% sheep wool. The magical process of making the fibers is that each piece is elaborated one by one, which is reflected in the unique kind result.”
